What or who do you turn to in times of uncertainty? Where do you look when you need to be rescued? When your heart is broken, who do you run to for hope and security? Think about it...what is your knee-jerk reaction to emotional chaos?
What does your first response look like when your world has just been turned upside down? Do you immediately call a friend that you trust? Maybe you escape with a novel or hours of watching TV so you don't have to think about your situation or deal with it. What about the fridge or even shopping? Or is it something else such as alcohol or some other addictive behavior?
What about right now? You may have just found out about your husband's betrayal or maybe you are still making your way through the shock and aftermath of such devastation and this day has been a difficult and painful one to say the least.
Who or what is your refuge?

Sweet friend, can I encourage you today?
Jesus desires to be your first response...not your last or even your somewhere in between. He is the God who "sees". He knows exactly why you are hurting and what you are in need of. Only in Him can you find the relief and peace you are searching for. No one nor nothing else will do!
It's time, my friend! Pull yourself away from trying to figure it all out, pull yourself away from the thoughts that torment you. Jesus says "Come away with me!" Bring your hurts, your anger, your questions, your brokenness to the ONE whose scars will bring not only healing, but significance to your wounds.
Psalm 62:8 tells us; trust in HIM at ALL times, O people, pour out your heart before Him, for God is our refuge. Think about this; when you immediately run to other people, things, food or whatever it is... are you trusting HIM? Trusting Him enables us to have the vulnerability to POUR out our broken hearts before HIM....Why do we need to do this? Because HE IS OUR REFUGE!!
He is close to you, my friend. Psalm 34:18 tells us; "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, He rescues those who are crushed in spirit." He IS your rescuer....not your husband, not your best friend, nor the temporary "fix" you may be accustomed to turning to.

He is waiting, dear one....He longs to hold you with His love. He has a safe place for you where you can take off your mask and be real. He is your shelter where you can find rest for your weary soul. Even in the midst of your pain, with Jesus you can have peace. In Him, beloved daughter, is where brokenness is overcome by the infinite, extravagant love of a Savior.
Be merciful and gracious to me, Oh God, be merciful and gracious to me, for my soul takes refuge and finds shelter and confidence in you; yes in the shadow of your wings will I take refuge and be confident until calamities and destructive storms are passed. I will cry to God Most High, who performs on my behalf and rewards me (who brings to pass his purposes for me and surely completes them.). Psalm 57:1-2

Come away with me, my love.... Song of Solomon 8:14
My salvation and honor come from God alone, He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. Psalm 62:7
